Sewing: the not so exciting odyssey

So, I probably blew this up way too much when I initially became excited about the whole sewing thing. After all, I just got a new sewing machine and I was all “this is so fantastic. I am totally going to be an avid sewing person who sews all the time.”

Not sure if you’ve noticed based on all of the sewing blogs I’ve posted (which is literally one besides this one) but that has not been the case.

I did honestly  think I was going to sew all the time. I bought so many sewing supplies that are still unopened to this day.

Tis a tragedy.

Even more of a tragedy: I tried sewing after a few month sabbatical. It didn’t go so well.

I thought that despite my short little break I would just sew and everything would be alright. And I tried without using a pattern, because hello I was such a professional.

There are no pictures of my little time with my sewing machine but here is what happened: I cut out the shapes of what I thought would be great for the legs of shorts and everything just went downhill from there. Eventually, I ran out of thread and I had to stop the madness.

I also forgot how to thread the spools for the sewing machine so that was that.

Things happen (says the person who literally wants to do everything) and I am going to need a bit more practice on that machine if I am going to brag about my skills to anybody. I might actually invest in some patterns.

What about you? Do you find that you start doing something and then lose interest almost immediately? Let me know how you deal with it in the comments below!
